Winter Concert, 2012 Celebrating Our Love of Music and Valentine’s Day!!!!

Our annual Winter Concert will be held tomorrow at the Queen Street East Presbyterian Church located at the south east corner of Queen Street and Carlaw..at 6:30.  Could you please plan to arrive at 6:15 so we can get started promptly at 6:30.  Use the Queen Street (side) entrance like usual.

Please get dressed up..this is an event and a celebration of music!!

Bring your music with you even if it is memorized and relax the day of the performance. Try not to do too many activities the day of the performance so you are not tired..or stressed.

The day of the performance, eat a banana as it calms the nerves and if you must practice, play your music once or twice slowly using the music.  Don’t keep reviewing it over and over.  You want to have “fresh fingers” for the concert.

Bring a treat for our after party.

I am looking  forward to sharing music with you once again.

Also a reminder that group classes (Piano Performance) and theory classes will be held at my home on Sunday January 29.  We will chat about the concert, talk about the Romantic time period of music and listen to some music and play games.  Please bring your Student Organizer!!

Good Luck Hilary

Last Sunday January 8 I had the opportunity to have some friends and fellow musicians listen to Hilary play her Grade 10 program.  It was a delightful evening full of great music, good wine and food and friends. My thanks to Hilary for sharing her music with us and Good Luck to her as she plays her Grade 10 Royal Conservatory Exam on January 18.  I am sure she will play extremely well.

Happy Holidays To My Wonderful Students and Their Families

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my students and their families for sharing their love  of music with me.

My wish  is that the life of  the music student is  made richer by the experience of learning and understanding  music at a deeper level…

Our Hallowe’en Concert and After Party!!

On Saturday October 29 from 3:00 until 5:00, Colour Outside The Lines Music Centre will be  hosting its Annual Hallowe’en Concert and after party. This concert is the first concert for  my  new students and is for the students participating, their siblings, and parent volunteers.

Everyone should wear a costume and bring their music with them.  When you arrive, you and your brothers or sisters will be making your own pizza with whatever toppings you choose.  Then we will have our concert while the pizzas are being cooked.  Following the concert we will have a pizza lunch and will play 3 games…bobbing for apples, drop the witches teeth and end with, grabbing the candy out of the witches’ bowl without being caught….!!!???

Rehearsal for this concert will take place on Saturday October 22 at 4:00 and will be one hour long. Students who are performing   the Hallowe’en music we devised as a group during our last Performance  Class particularly need to attend this rehearsal.

From parents, I need donations of juice, water, fruit and vegetable trays and Hallowe’en treats or desserts.  Could you please e-mail me or let me know at your child’s lesson within the next two weeks, what you would like to contribute.  I could also use volunteers to help with games and serving pizza…The pizza dough and toppings are my Hallowe’en treat for the students. Please remember that the siblings of the students are also welcome to attend the concert and party afterwards.:)

His name is James Clark and he is Number 22.  he plays for Concordia University. The game schedule is posted there..one on Friday night and one on Saturday…tune in for more..Proud mom basketball pictures will be available next week.

Next week I will let you know about the theory classes I am offering beginning in November.  The start date and schedule will depend on the level the student needs/wants to achieve.
