Please note that the last week for piano lessons this term is the week of December 12th to the 16th.
It is very important that students listen to music. Go to concerts, listen to the radio, recordings and especially listen to the music they are playing. It makes playing and interpreting the music so much easier. You tube has everything they need for this purpose
Students who have an account with the Royal Conservatory of Music can access music online at www.rcmexaminations.org. This site also has great ear training games. Lots of fun.
If you have not already, please let me know if you re attending classes the first week of January.
Piano Performance class will take place on Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00.
Presenting yourself for Performance
A short discussion of Baroque music and Romantic music. When Louise plays can you tell the difference?
What is Louise doing wrong? A demonstration and guessing game using three pieces of music.
Theory games in teams..rhythm, intervals and note reading depending on student level.
Gingerbread cookies and apple juice/or apple cider.
It is always exciting to begin a new music term…especially in the Fall. Welcome back.
This says it all for me:) I hope you feel inspired to learn!!!
Welcome back to piano lessons. I am looking forward to the music year and hope you are too. I have some new ideas that I will share with you every Friday morning on my “blog”..right here.
Please note that I have increased my fees. The first time in three years!
For now, lessons begin on Tuesday September 6 and I am looking forward to seeing all of you. Enjoy the last few days of summer. I am vacationing in Latvia and Slovenia until August 31 and will return any phone calls or e-mails when I return.
The Fall Piano lesson Schedule has been updated. I will send you an invoice and lesson reminder a few days before your first lesson.
We are ending the Spring term and will be heading into summer. I will be teaching on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the summer. I suggest that everyone take at least two lessons in July and two in August at the very least. I will be away at some point, as I am sure you will be, so we will schedule around those times. I am much more flexible in the summer.
I will be giving each parent a report of how their student is doing either by giving a mock examination or just reporting in writing where the child is and our goals for the next term.
There is a Group Lesson on Sunday June 12 at 3:30and this will be used as a rehearsal for the concert. Anyone who would like to join this class is welcome.
The concert will be held at Queen Street east Presbyterian Church at 7:00 on Friday June 17. Students are busy preparing for exams and this concert. I hope you will be there. Don’t forget to bring a treat for the party afterwards:)
Hello Students and Families: I hope you had a great break. Spring term has arrived and I am looking forward to beginning this term with you. Please note the schedule for this term. More later.
Welcome to Winter term. Our Winter concert will be held on Saturday FEBRUARY 6 at Queen Street East Presbyterian Church, (located at Queen and Carlaw) at 7:00.
Group piano lessons will be held on Sunday January 24 and Sunday February 28. Please plan to attend both but particularly the January class as this will be a rehearsal for our concert to be held on Saturday February 6.
I am just updating my schedule and you will receive an invoice and reminder before the first piano lesson next week.
Hello Musical Families. The busy Christmas season is upon us. I want to thank everyone for their flexibility and willingness to accommodate my busy schedule.
A reminder that there is a Group/Piano Performance Class (and a pre-Christmas Gingerbread Party) on Sunday November 29. Please check the information under Schedule..Piano Performance Classes for more information.
I also want to remind you to let me know if you want the same time slot for the winter term.
I belong to the Bel Canto Singers and our choir is performing on December 6 at 2:30 and 7:30. Children are free and adults cost $20.00. It is my opinion that most of my students do not listen to enough live music so here is their chance.
Also on Saturday December 12 Pax Christie Chorale is hosting The Children’s Messiah. click on the link for more information. Children are free!!
I will be posting the winter term tuition information. Again reminder to let me know if you require a schedule change.
Enjoy the holiday season!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
